Job Description:
Action Against Hunger is actively seeking to appoint an Environment Logistics Senior Officer. In this crucial role, you will assume responsibility for implementing and evaluating environmental initiatives outlined in our logistics action plan at the mission level. Your expertise will be pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of our environmental objectives within the logistics domain.
Primary Duties:
- Conduct assessments during site visits to evaluate waste management practices.
- Monitor and categorize the volume of waste generated by both office and guesthouse facilities. Identify and document existing recycling methods within the intervention areas.
- Identify and establish effective hazardous waste management procedures.
- Implement and refine waste collection processes within the capital office and bases, directing materials towards recycling channels.
- Initiate contracts and partnerships with recycling and waste management companies to enhance sustainability efforts.
- Gather and document program expectations regarding waste management, providing written reports for coordination and headquarters.
- Identify the types and composition of packaging materials and their respective suppliers.
- Compile a comprehensive list of quality and environmental standards and labels applicable to the local market in accordance with strategic priorities.
- Collect relevant data and maintain an indicator tracking table to monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Facilitate internal communication by sharing achieved results with both the mission and headquarters.
