Job Description:
This role involves bolstering assistance in addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and elevating awareness concerning GBV prevention and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) rights within the community. The GBV Caseworker will assume the responsibility of overseeing GBV response cases related to adolescent girls, encompassing case management and coordinating the adolescent girl's program.
Primary Duties:
The Caseworker's responsibilities encompass the following tasks, as well as any related duties that extend from the explicitly stated ones:
1. Upholding Survivor-Centred Approach Principles: Ensuring the application and enforcement of survivor-centred approach guiding principles when working with adolescent girls.
2. Management of Safe Spaces: Overseeing the overall management of safe spaces and activities designed for adolescent girls.
3. Information Desk Establishment: Facilitating the establishment of information desks at women and girls' centers to provide access to Sexual Reproductive Health information for adolescent girls and women of reproductive age.
4. Referral Support: Assisting at-risk individuals or survivors by making referrals, with their consent, to other service providers such as health, legal counseling, shelter, livelihoods, or mental health services.
5. Direct Support and Case Management: Providing direct support, care, basic information, counseling, and case management for vulnerable girls, including survivors of gender-based violence. This involves assessing survivor needs, developing action plans, implementing these plans, conducting follow-ups, and closing cases in accordance with GBV case management standard operating procedures and IASC guidelines on case management.
6. Implementation of Do No Harm Principles: Ensuring the implementation, observation, and adherence to Do No Harm principles in all interactions and engagements as a Case Worker.
7. Supervision of Community Volunteers: Assuming responsibility for the selection and supervision of all community volunteers working in women's and girls' centers.
8. **Resource Management**: Identifying resource needs and facilitating requests for supplies at the centers.
9. Supervision of Skills Training: Overseeing the day-to-day supervision of artisans providing skills training to adolescent girls.
10. Reporting and Data Management: Collaborating with the MEAL Officer and line manager to produce monthly data and narrative reports for various stakeholders, including donor narrative reports. Ensuring the implementation and adherence to monitoring and evaluation plans.
11. Weekly Case Updates: Provide weekly case updates to the GBV Officer, including information on new cases identified, referrals made, cases closed, and follow-ups conducted.
12. Weekly Activity Reports: Submit weekly reports on activities at the women and girls' center, encompassing key achievements, challenges, lessons learned, and any follow-up support needed from the supervisor.
13. Case Conference Participation: Participating in case conference meetings and offering summary information on critical cases that require case conferences.
14. Coordination with Partners: Maintaining positive coordination and relationships with other partners in the field to promote a holistic approach to case management.
15. Documentation and Sharing: Documenting and sharing pertinent information that can inform the development of case studies or success stories related to the project. Providing one-on-one case management services, including safety planning.
16. Referrals for Child Survivors: Referring child survivors to other services, including child protection and specialized mental health services. Accompanying survivors when appropriate and conducting follow-ups to ensure appropriate services are delivered.
17. Gap Identification: Identifying gaps in referral services and reporting these gaps to the GBV Manager for corrective action.
18. Community Volunteer Liaison: Collaborating with community volunteers for survivor follow-up as part of individual case management.
19. Case Management Records: Completing and maintaining case management records to uphold confidentiality and safety standards.
20. Participation in Meetings: Participating in case review meetings and referral coordination meetings if necessary.
21. Team Collaboration: Contributing to a positive team environment.
22. Self-Care: Practicing self-care.
23. Additional Assignments: Undertaking any other duties that may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in psychology, social sciences, public health, nursing, or any related field from an accredited tertiary institution.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in humanitarian work with a focus on protection.
