Project Overview and Role:
The SCALE project's primary aim is to provide comprehensive support to civil society organizations (CSOs) and business membership organizations (BMOs) within the various programmatic sectors of USAID/Nigeria. This support encompasses a range of managerial, business enhancement, and advocacy capacity-building initiatives. These initiatives are strategically aligned to bolster the sustainability of Nigerian CSOs. Additionally, the project allocates specific grants to propel agreed-upon priorities, ultimately fostering the capacity of local civil society organizations to act as influential and responsible agents of change in Nigeria.
Job Role Objective:
The role of the Program Associate is to offer comprehensive technical, administrative, and monitoring assistance for SCALE initiatives. The Program Associate will be accountable to the Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP).
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborating closely with Project Advisors to facilitate the implementation of project interventions for SCALE partners. This includes offering coaching, mentoring, and conducting field visits when required, as well as aiding in the development of annual workplans.
- Providing technical support for SCALE's efforts in SGBV (Sexual and Gender-Based Violence) and CEFM (Child, Early, and Forced Marriage) under Component 5, and offering support to the Vulnerable Population Manager. Additionally, engaging with resource partners and clusters to ensure the smooth execution of project activities on behalf of the team.
- Acting as a representative for the component in various events and activities, and subsequently, compiling reports detailing participation in these events.
- Assisting in the Organizational Capacity Assessment of SCALE clusters and select resource partners, while also providing technical assistance for documenting the progress made by these organizations in implementing their capacity development plans.
- Supporting the project team in organizing meetings with partners and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and communication.
- Cultivating positive relationships with all project partners and stakeholders to ensure effective teamwork and cooperation.
- Aiding in the generation of monthly and quarterly reports, including the creation of success stories, and monitoring progress towards targets and indicators.
- Collaborating with Project Advisors and the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team to develop and distribute information aimed at familiarizing target audiences with the SCALE project's scope and activities.
- Managing and organizing technical filing systems within the office for efficient data retrieval and storage.
- Assisting partners, with support from the MEL team, in establishing and maintaining effective filing systems.
- Supporting project partners in the collection and storage of appropriate means of verifying project results.
- Providing secretarial, administrative, and logistical support for meetings and other project-related events.
- Assisting in the procurement process for materials required for project events.
- Undertaking any other tasks as assigned by the Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) as necessary to ensure the project's success.
Qualifications Required:
Educational Background:
A Bachelor's
degree in social sciences, accountancy, administration, knowledge management,
or a related field is essential for this position.
Professional Experience:
A minimum of 5
years of progressively responsible experience within non-governmental
organizations (NGOs) is required. This experience should encompass program
management, partner management, monitoring, evaluation, and learning, as well
as office operations and administration.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in
Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is mandatory for this role.
The ability to
maintain accurate financial records and prepare financial reports is a key
requirement.
Interpersonal and Organizational Skills:
Strong
interpersonal and organizational skills are prerequisites for success in this
position.
The ability to
take initiative, work independently, and effectively manage multiple priorities
under tight deadlines is crucial.
Communication Skills:
Excellent oral
and written communication skills in English are essential for effective
interaction within the organization and with external stakeholders.
Desired Experience:
Previous
experience with USAID-funded governance programs is highly desired and will be
